John impact in the state of Hawai’i, especially

John A. BurnsJohn Anthony Burns was a highly respected governor of Hawai’i. He served 12 years in office. He was born in Montana but raised in Kalihi, O’ahu. John wasn’t the greatest student, he was in and out of school going to different schools between Montana and Hawai’i but he finally graduated from Saint Louis School in O’ahu. John wasn’t great at his speech or writing but it later became an asset to be speak straightforward. For example, John Burns wrote a letter to a local newspaper, saying he wasn’t worried about the Japanese ancestry threatening the security of the Islands. This letter made a huge impact in the state of Hawai’i, especially the Japanese-Americans in Hawai’i. John had gone around and had listened to Japanese-Americans expressing how they felt about how they got the cold shoulder.In the beginning of his early life, John Burns was a sympathetic police officer who was very involved in creating relationships with people from numerous ethnic groups, especially the Japanese and the Native Hawaiians. He became more and more involved with his community. Later, in his career he led the Hawai’i Democratic Revolution of 1954, but he also became the chair of the territorial party in 1952. In 1956, he was elected a party delegate and played a key role in lobbying for Hawai’i’s statehood, and that goal was achieved on March 12, 1959.When John Burns went into office he had made great achievements, such as construction of the State Capital building, creating the University of Hawai’i into a first-class university, also early planning for the construction of the Aloha Stadium to host University football games and events. He also supported the expandment of the Honolulu International Airport, now known as the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. His legacy was left in a remarkable way, the John A. Burns School of Medicine, at the University of Hawai’i was named for him in honor, along with the road to the summit of Mauna Kea.In conclusion, John A. Burns was one of the most honorable Governor’s in the state of Hawai’i. The way that he went about with things, he wanted a better life for the people in Hawai’i. He became such an amazing role model for people all across of Hawai’i, he definitely showed that he cared for Hawai’i’s people and the Islands, and for the Island’s future.
