Raising Children As Vegans
“I was raised vegan from birth and have never tried animal products.” This is from Adair Moran (para.#6)- Age 29 who has been vegan her entire life thanks to both of her parents who were fully vegan. Not all parents have been vegan their entire life and still raise their children to be vegans, not all are children are vegans their whole life, many start after the first couple years of birth. Veganism can begin at any age, being a vegan will provide many benefits. It just takes the will to begin being vegan & the results will sure to come.

Raising Children As Vegans
If you could help your child live longer and healthier would you? Many parents are raising their children as vegans. They all have their own personal reasons for making this decision for their child that will effective their live drastically. I will be going in depth about the pros and cons of raising a child as a vegan and if it is really beneficial or unhealthy for the growing child.
Many children start off their life by drinking breast milk from the mothers which coincidentally is vegan itself. In recent studies from the American Academy of Pediatrics Policy Statement, children who were breastfed had a positive effect on the child and the mother. Also, babies who were breastfed learned to understand discipline & feel good about itself. Many babies do not start eating whole foods until the reach the age of four to six months old. The baby can easily be taught to be vegan by starting off with breast milk; then transitioning to baby food which can be mainly vegetables or fruits depending on the child and the parents. When you start the child off without meat or dairy products and only vegan items at such an early age, it becomes easy for stay vegan throughout the years.
As the child becomes older it needs more protein and iron in order to avoid poor growth. This is the point where the parent must be feeding the child the correct food in order to have the child be healthy grow properly. When you are feeding your child make sure you are feeding them food that has Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Calcium, Iron, Protein, and Fiber. This will ensure that your child will grow healthy and also with all of the right nutrients. The term Carnism is the idea that people only are allowed to eat certain animals and people who believed in this will judge you for being vegan.
Many people are quick to judge when they hear the term “vegan” from past experience I have had to deal with people who made fun of me for being vegan. They would tell me that all I ate was cardboard or they would tease me for not being able to eat meat or most of the stuff I used to. Unfortunately I stopped being a vegan, not because of the teasing, I would crave all the foods I could not eat while being vegan. This is why I am all for children being raised as vegan because they will develop a healthy lifestyle and live a long life . If the child becomes a vegan later on in life, it would be more difficult for them to adapt to the lifestyle.
Teenagers ages thirteen through nineteen. The years of difficulty and a rollercoaster of emotions. This is a time of the child’s life where there is rapid growth and change with the body. A teenager needs the same basic nutrients as any other person, like the younger children, a vegan teenager should include consuming Vitamin B12, Calcium, Protein, and Iron. This will ensure positive growth for the teenager.Although teenagers are going through a change with their bodies, they still eat the same as all other vegans.
Although there is many positives about being vegan, there is still negatives about the lifestyle. For instance, eating a lot of fruit will cause you to gain weight from all of the sugar intake. According to Vanderbilt University Health Psychology Department, a vegan diet may increase your chances of developing low bone density and Osteoporosis. You may also receive bone fractures throughout your life. Many foods that vegans can not eat have Vitamin D which is a vital vitamin for the body, since vegans are not able to eat fish and egg yolk, if the person spends time in the sun long enough they will receive enough Vitamin D. The term Carnism is the idea that people only are allowed to eat certain animals and people who believed in this will judge you for being vegan.
